SBC Children's Ministry Volunteer Application

Dear Applicant,

Because of the increasing volume of reports of child abuse and false accusations of abuse in recent years, public awareness of this problem has never been higher. This has increased the need to ensure practical and legal protection for both the children as well as the volunteer workers in Soldotna Bible Chapel’s Educational Ministries.

In an effort to strike a balance between over-concern and indifference, the following application form was prepared. Its purposes are to assist the church in evaluating a volunteer worker’s suitability, to assist in the legal protection and support of volunteers and church should a problem ever arise, and to satisfy the concerns of parents and staff members for some sort of screening process.

Legally speaking, the church has a RIGHT TO ASK any question related to the application and screening process and the volunteer applicant has the RIGHT TO REFUSE to answer any question. Thank you for your cooperation in this process and we hope you will understand the need for this in our society.

We Believe:

- that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. This means that God supernaturally guided the writers of Scripture to communicate His message.
- that the Bible is the only perfect rule for faith and conduct until Jesus returns.

A background check will be run for every volunteer over the age of 18. Any background checks returning with a flag will be reviewed by the Family Ministry Committee.

Desiring to have a part in the ministry of Soldotna Bible Chapel, I request approval of the Christian Education Board to serve as a volunteer. I have answered the questions on this application truthfully and to the best of my ability.

A criminal background check will be conducted on each application. The authorization form will be emailed to you at the email address you have provided.
